Dr. Edward Ruiz, who was born in Detroit, Michigan, is a family medicine physician with over 23 years of clinical experience. 17 of those years right here in the Coachella Valley, providing compassionate and quality care to patients. Before becoming a family doctor, he earned his B.S. in physiology from Michigan State University and practiced as an exercise trainer for six years. He has carried this experience into his medical practice. He focuses on areas of family medicine including Diabetes Mellitus, hypertension, high cholesterol, asthma, allergies, sports medicine, pediatrics, men's and women’s health, as well as preventative health.

Dr. Ed, as he is known to his patients, has had additional experience in pharmaceutical consulting, being a medical director for nursing homes and rehabilitation care centers, and had privileges at both JFK and Desert Regional Medical Center.

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Ruiz enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Erica Ruiz, MD, and their four children. He enjoys free weight training, along with ice hockey (go Firebirds), baseball, and serves as a volunteer referee for the AYSO soccer league in La Quinta, CA.
